Intentionally Outdoors LLC strives to provide you with an experience to immerse yourself in nature and within yourself. To best serve the goals of the Forest Therapy Walk, there are some policies that all participants are required to follow and some additional guidelines and recommendations to help participants enjoy the benefits of the Forest Therapy Walk and/or to reduce the risk of harm to participants during the Forest Therapy Walk. All participants must review the mandatory policies in advance of the Forest Therapy Walk and must follow all mandatory policies during the Forest Therapy Walk.
Mandatory Policies for Forest Therapy Walk Participants:
All participants must be 18 years of age or older. No minors will be allowed on Forest Therapy Walks.
No pets or personal animals will be allowed on the Forest Therapy Walks. Documented service animals helping individuals with disabilities are not subject to this restriction. Any service animals accompanying a participant on a Forest Therapy Walk must remain on a leash at all times and are responsible proper disposal of their service animal’s waste products.
Participants are prohibited from consuming alcohol during the Forest Therapy Walk.
Participants are prohibited from consuming non-prescribed medication or illegal substances during the Forest Therapy Walk.
Participants are prohibited from taking photos, videos, audio recordings, or otherwise recording the Nature and Forest Therapy Guide and other participants of the Forest Therapy Walk without their prior, written consent.
The location of the Forest Therapy Walk may have additional restrictions or limitations which will be provided to you at or in advance of the event. Some restrictions could include prohibitions on: usage of drones, usage of motorized equipment on trails or paths, collecting or removal of items from nature (including rocks, minerals, archaeological features, etc.), or other restrictions. Participants are required to follow all requirements and restrictions imposed by the location or owner of the property upon which the Forest Therapy Walk occurs.
Participants are to comply with all local, state, and federal laws during the Forest Therapy Walk and may not engage in any unlawful conduct.
Guidelines and Recommendations for Forest Therapy Walk Participants attending public walks:
Arrive to the event location at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Arrivals which occur after the scheduled start time will miss the event and be considered a voluntary cancellation of the participant for which the participant will not receive a refund or credit.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and comfortable clothes.
Bring any items with you that will make the walk more comfortable. We suggest water, bug protection, snacks, any prescribed medications you need, sun protection, weather protection, and warm layers.
Silence your phone or other electronic devices or do not bring your devices with you on the walk.
Use restrooms prior to the event and plan ahead as bathrooms at the event are not always provided or available for use.
Avoid engaging in loud, aggressive, or otherwise disruptive behaviors during the Forest Therapy Walk. Intentionally Outdoors LLC reserves the right to remove any participant from the walk at any time for any reason.
Scheduling and Reimbursement Policies:
This policy is for public walks booked through Intentionally Outdoors. Private walks, retreats and other events will have specific policies per each event, please see the event registration for that policy.
Participants may voluntarily cancel their participation in a public walk. Refunds may be provided for voluntary cancellations under the following terms:
If a participant cancels at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the event, the participant will receive a full refund to their initial payment method.
If a participant cancels less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time, no refund will be provided.
If the participant cancels because they do not wish to sign or agree to the Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability Agreement, then the participant will be provided a full refund to their initial payment method regardless of the time of cancellation.
Please note that a refund can take up to 10 business days to show up on a customer’s account.
At times, Intentionally Outdoors LLC may need to cancel a scheduled event for various unforeseen reasons, including but not limited to, weather, illness, unavailability of property or licensed guide, etc. Intentionally Outdoors LLC will strive to provide as much notice as possible of any event cancellations, however, no guarantees are provided on the timing of cancellations notices.
In the event that Intentionally Outdoors LLC cancels a scheduled event, all participants scheduled to attend the event will be provided a full refund of any fees paid in advance.
As a participant, you must review this Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability Agreement prior to participating in a Forest Therapy Walk with Intentionally Outdoors LLC. If you disagree with the terms of this Agreement, you may propose alternative terms for Intentionally Outdoors LLC to consider; however, Intentionally Outdoors LLC is not required to accept any alternative terms you propose.
Risks Associated with Forest Therapy Walks and Assumptions of Risks:
You agree and acknowledge that there are inherent risks of physical danger from participating in the Forest Therapy Walks. These risks include but are not limited to: slipping, falling, and tripping; abrasions, cuts, and contusions; sprained ankles and wrists; broken bones; dehydration; heat rash, hyperthermia, and heat exhaustion; blisters; pulled muscles; twisted ankles; knee injuries; arm injuries; head injuries; exhaustion; exposure to water hazards, hypothermia; and even, death.
You agree and acknowledge that there are risks of interaction with nature and wildlife which may cause you harm on the Forest Therapy Walk. These risks include but are not limited to: exposure to potentially dangerous wild animals, animal bites, insect bites, scratches, hazardous plant life, plants you are allergic to, rashes, infections, and other similar risks which can cause physical harm, including harm up to death.
You agree and acknowledge that participation in the Forest Therapy Walk may cause emotional distress or emotional harm, particularly given that some offerings may ask participants to engage in processing feelings. Nature and Forest Therapy Guides are not licensed therapists—they do not diagnose, treat, or provide care for any mental health conditions or emotional conditions. You agree and acknowledge that you will not consider any statements from any Nature and Forest Therapy Guides on the walk to be medical advice, prescription, or medical treatment in any way.
You understand that food and non-alcoholic beverages may be offered to you by Intentionally Outdoors LLC. You agree and acknowledge that accepting or consuming any food or non-alcoholic beverages includes risks of harm to you including but not limited to: foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, or other reactions from your body which may cause digestive issues, shortness in breath, hives, infection, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, headache, and even, death.
You agree to follow all written mandatory policies on the attached sheet and to follow all verbal instruction and rules given to you by Intentionally Outdoors LLC during your participation of the event.
